What is silverlight preferences for macI use Reunion.I would not work on Ancestry. I believe Gramps is available for the Mac, as well as RootsMagic. It's a small gesture but seriously, respect peoples' time & effort in helping you out. There have been a number of more recent topics on this subject, which might have more detailed points on various Mac software options. It's perfectly OK to ask for any info if you're looking for fresh leads, but you can help people to focus their efforts & look at the correct sources if you are more specific. Be clear & specific about what info you want help finding. However, there's a free version of RootsMagic that you can get to use as an intermediary.I personally don't like the look of MacFamily Tree, it seems cheesy and kind of dated to me. Unfortunately, I believe only RootsMagic and FTM currently have a full sync option. Anything you find on Ancestry you should save your own copy of.I do find it useful to sync a basic tree with my Ancestry account, as cousin bait and for DNA matching. There is a "detail" field, so you could add a book and then use the detail field, just for page numbers. That may be more traditional, but with the way Reunion handles them you have all the info in the source citation. But MacFamilyTree uses the source, like you would in an academic bibliography (the entire census or an entire book) and then I believe you need to separately enter the specific detail separately (family names, pages, household, etc.), like a footnote in an academic paper. If I have a source for a particular family (or occasionally a couple of families together) in the census, I enter that as a source and then it's easy to copy or drag and drop that source citation to other related facts. I find it easier to work with, but it does mean that you end up with a lot more sources. I get the idea from looking at MacFamilyTree that it has a greater ability to edit charts that's built in.I also prefer the way that Reunion handles sources and citations to those sources. At least RootsMagic downloads copies of media from Ancestry to my computer. Now my tree is massive and it would be a major undertaking to do it. I should have been downloading documents and such from Ancestry all along. I don’t use RootsMagic to input any new information.I don’t suggest you do what I do. I use RootsMagic for its syncing capabilities, mostly as a backup. I’ve been using it for about 20 years. That said, I like Reunion quite a bit. And honestly I haven’t used it much in the past 3-4 years. Family Tree Maker also syncs with Ancestry.I have Reunion, but I’m a few versions behind. ![]()
